In his Keynote Speech, Richard Scase outlined the mega-trends likely to impact upon global markets in the next twenty years. He discussed the...Economic downturn is a great time for innovation and corporate re-design. More businesses are set-up in economic recession than in periods of growth-why is this?
One reason is that talent is driven out of big business because of poor re-structuring programmes and it is these able men and women that set up their own businesses and fast-growing concerns. Why is it that large corporations disable rather than empower their best staff? Why is that women are still disadvantaged in the work place? The answer lies in the ‘hidden culture’ of large organisations that legislation is unable to attack. Why is it that ‘the global market place’ is used to justify the excessive earnings of many senior corporate executives when it is self-evident that their mobility will be and always has been, bounded by personal networks, life-styles and family ties.
Richard Scase packs his presentations with insights of this kind drawing upon his book ‘Living in the Corporate Zoo’
