for Wales Management Council at Liberty Stadium Swansea
15 November 2007
To an invited audience of business leaders and public officials, Richard Scase gave the Closing Keynote Speech in which he outlined trends in the global economy and how these are likely to impact upon future business development in the regions and nations of the United Kingdom. He emphasised the need for Wales to market itself more forcefully in world markets and to encourage the rate of indigeneous business start-up. He foresaw declining foreign inward investment in the future so that economic prosperity would become more dependent upon local successful entrepreneurship. In this, he stressed how the engagement of universities was vital for the creation of high value-added businesses.
